Who are the Ashlings?

The Ashlings is a unique wedding duo consisting of Laurel Brauns on guitar and Amy Mitchell on the cello.  Laurel has been composing and performing for over ten years and has produced three albums.  Although her music has many influences, including Americana and Folk, she has a personal interest in studying Celtic music.  In fact, she chose "The Ashlings" as the name for this most recent venture because it is based on the ancient Celtic term for "dream" or "vision."

Amy is a classically trained cellist who has performed with the Central Oregon Symphony for eight seasons.

Why should I choose the Ashlings?

The Ashlings are committed to providing both traditional wedding selections as well as the opportunity for the bride and groom to choose their own personal favorites.  In addition to being versatile, our music is more affordable than a traditional wedding quartet.  We also have a commitment to supporting our local music shops and choose "green" transportation (this might be a tandem bicycle with a trailer or Laurel's biodiesel VW Bug) for commuting to your venue.  We equally enjoy doing intimate backyard weddings or elegant affairs at a destination resort.

What kind of music might the Ashlings provide for my wedding?

We have a few samples of our wedding selections on the music page of our website.  They range from classical favorites like Pachelbel's Canon in D to our own acoustic versions of modern tunes such as the Cure's "Just Like Heaven."  If you have specific songs in mind, please ask!

Where will the Ashlings play?

We are based out of Central Oregon, so our home territory includes Bend, Sunriver, Sisters, Camp Sherman, Redmond, Terrebonne, La Pine, Prineville, Powell Butte, Tumalo, and Madras.  However, we love to travel and are willing to consider whatever adventure you may have planned!  Some of our other wedding locations have included Portland, Timberline Lodge, Troutdale, and Lakeview.
